Havana (Illinois)

Havana, Rain (what else) and 56F
Nice Picture (eh Penny?)

As we are waiting for the backlog of water, towes, and transients in Grafton to subside from the midwest flooding, we are having a decent time at Tall Timbers in Havana Illinois.

This small but nice marina is cozy and we are with some great fellow loopers.
We meet for 'Docktails' every day and shoot the breeze

There were about 40 people at the Fish Fry

The first night at Tall Timbers we were invited to a 'Fish Fry'.  Bring your drinks, and a dish to pass.  WOW awesome perfect Catfish, Bass, and others.  There was so much fish left over.  We had a great time meeting and talking to many locals.

Saturday, we FaceTime'd into a Birthday Party for (Grandsons) Jason Jr. and Alex.  We actually joined in with the singing of 'Happy Birthday'.  Not exactly the same but kinda cool to join in on the activities.  Great polite Grandkids.

As we awoke the next day, we saw a boat (flat bottom 18' with a 75 Mariner) with two guys coming in a narrow channel next to us.  They proceed to cast gill nets, then proceeded to the far end of the channel (40 yards).

They then lifted the propeller just out of the water, and proceeded to work their way to the net, and drive the fish into the nets.

There IS a fish jumping in this pic.

Many Asian Carp were jumping, and I tried to get a good pic the pic above was the best I got..  As they finished the drive, they they proceeded to gather the carp and other fish (that they had to throw back) into their boat.  I asked them if it was a good haul, and the reply was not really, I guessed that they had about 18-20 Carp and a few bass.

Vicki and I made a trip to the Nature Center, and had a tour, very proud people of their waterfront development (Camping, Nature Center, walking park, kids playground, and sitting area to view the many tows).

All is well, Daisy is doing superb.  One quick story on Daisy.  On a ramp that we need to walk on, there is a slight raised plate, perhaps 8" high and three feet long.  As we walk that section, Daisy will run and jump the entire distance, you have to see it, and it would make you laugh.
