Chicago

Flower 8" in diameter

Our first full day in Chicago just happened to be my (Vicki) birthday (we won't discuss which one). We spent our day walking in the rain to the Field Museum only to decide to go on to the Museum of Science and Industry via a taxi (when we discovered it was going to be several miles further). We spent the day at the Museum, While at the museum,  we went to a Disney Animation Academy to draw a picture of a rabbit (what a joke) as I can't draw a thing.  Mine hit the trash can on the way out the door as it certainly didn't look like a rabbit (don't you agree?).

After the museum, we had a nice dinner at a Chinese Restaurant (Shrimp, Pineapple Fried rice (yummy).

After Dinner, we attended an Architectural Boat Tour through the city at twilight, what a wonderful experience.

The boat tour through downtown was narrated by a docent who was an architect and was with the Chicago Architectural Foundation, he knew everything  about each and every building and who designed and built them. Of note was the older, Montgomery Ward, and Sears building.  I would highly recommend this tour to anyone coming for a visit to Chicago.

Mark rode his bike quite a distance just to get me a cupcake to celebrate my birthday. What a guy!!!

Our last day, we woke up to 78F  temp in the cabin, should have put the AC on.  We experienced a lot of rain, and 97F (feels like) but managed to get Daisy a good walk, and prepared the boat for the Rivers coming up this weekend.

  1. Happy birthday Vicki. Your voyage looks fantastic. I wish I could undertake something like that. Do you guys have an actual itinerary with predefined destinations on a calander or are you winging it all the way. Enjoy reading your blog.

  2. Happy, happy day Vic. I am sure you are a much better nurse than artist however; the rabbit wasn't too bad. I also enjoy reading your blog.

  3. Hi Rob.

Yes, we do have a plan, but it is flexible. Due to insurance issues we cannot be into the Gulf sooner than November 1, and must be north of the Chesapeake Bay by May 1.
Other than that we are winging it...... Thanks for the comments, and the Birthday greetings.
